Yidan Piano Studio – YAPC 2018 獲獎名單

第16屆美國新英格蘭地區The Young Artist Piano Competition (YAPC) 2018年4月28日在麻省Westfield舉行。这次Yidan Studio 选派了11位小朋友参加比赛。在激烈的比赛中,我们一共收穫了3個第一名,3个第二名,和2个第三名的好成绩。赛后每个小朋友都收到了评委详细的评语,大家互相交流,受益匪浅!正如郭老师说的:“成績永遠都不是我看重的,重要的是平時大家的努力!”

祝贺获奖的小朋友:

1. 1st Place for Level One Duet:  Scarlett Yi & Ariel Wu 

Scarlett Yi (6 years old, a first grader in Newman Elementary School in Needham, MA) teamed up with Ariel Wu (6 years old, a first grader from Wellesley, MA).  These two young girls’ seamless cooperation and professional performance has not only impressed the judges, but also has brought unforgettable enjoyment to the audience at Awards.  Scarlett started learning piano with Mrs. Guo one year ago. In 2017, Scarlett was awarded the 1st place in International Crescendo Piano Competition and performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City.  Ariel Wu started piano training with Mrs. Guo at the age of 4.  She won the 2nd place at the 4th & 5th GOCCA Young Pianist Competition in 2016 and 2017.  As the 1st place winner of American Protege International Music Talent Competition Spring 2017, Ariel performed at the winner’s recital at Carnegie Hall also. 

2.  1st Place for Length of Study Senior A:  尹梓龄 Ziling (Lucy) Yin

Lucy Yin (3rd grade student of Winn Brook Elementary School at Belmont, MA) embarked on her piano journey three years ago then switched to Yidan Studio one year ago. She has gradually built up her love in piano with strong interest in creating her own chords. She also loves reading, writing, arts, skiing, swimming and soccer. She is a very active advocate for Chinese culture.  Lucy won 1st Place of 2017 GOCAA Young Pianist Competition.  

3. 1st Place for Length of Study Early Study B:  Scarlett Yi

In addition to winning the 1st Place of Level One Duet with her pair, Scarlett also won the 1st Place in Length of Study Early Study B for her solo piece.  In her spare time, she also loves dancing, drawing and swimming.

4. 2nd Place for Age Achievement Category 9: Alan Tezel

Alan is 9 years old and currently in 4th grade in Arlington.  He is a very active boy who loves parkour, karate, skateboarding and swimming, he also enjoys reading and going to movies. He started his music education at Yamaha music school and began studying with Ms. Yidan Guo in June 2016. Since then he has participated in various performances and competitions, more importantly, enjoyed making new friends and sharing beautiful music with people.  Alan won 3rd Place at 2017 MMTA Judged Festival and 2nd Place in 2017 Young Artist Piano Competition in his group.  

5. 2nd place for Length of Study Intermediate C: Brianna Xin 

Brianna Xin is 8 years old. She is a 2nd grade student in Woodward Elementary School in Southborough, MA. Brianna started her journey with piano in 2016. Since she has studied with Ms. Yidan Guo in May 2017, she has awarded two prices in competitions. In 2017, Brianna won 2nd place in the Little Mozarts Music Competition.  In this YAPC Competition,   the judges described her playing was charming and very sensitive. They wrote “I much enjoyed your choreography as well as the clarity of your interpretation” and “you made our day!” 

6. 2nd Place for Length of Study Junior A: Connor Xu

Connor Xu is 9 years old.  He is currently a 4th grader at Windham Center School.  He started piano class with Mrs. Yidan Guo since late 2016.  Under Mrs. Guo’s meticulous teaching and guidance, Connor has broadened his love for music and fully embraced the challenge of playing piano on a higher level.  This is the first time Connor attended a piano competition.  He has enjoyed the experience immensely.  Connor loves math, drawing and reading in his spare time.  He is also a super Lego and Nerf enthusiast!  

7. 3rd Place for Length of Study Early Study D: Barry (Haowen) Zhong

 

Barry is 6 years old. He attends Kindergarten at Torit Montessori in Boston, MA. He loves music and has learned to play violin with his mom and Ms. Yongxiang Ren since the end of 2016. He started piano lessons with Ms. Yidan Guo from June 2017. Besides music, he loves reading, skating, drawing and Lego. Currently his favorite book series is Wild Kratts. He also loves the Chinese book “The Journey to the West”.

8. 3rd Place for Age Achievement Category 9: Claire Long

Claire Long is 9-year old girl who loves music and enjoys playing piano. She feels  learning piano has been amazing, every piece introduces its own challenges and it is fun to overcome them.  She was the winner of 1st Place for Crescendo International Little Mozarts Competition 2017, and performed at Carnegie Hall for the winner recital.  Clair also won 2nd Place for 2017 the 5th GOCAA Youth Pianist Competition, 3rd Place on 2016 the 4th GOCAA, and 2nd Place for 2017 YAPC Age Achievement.  Besides of piano, Claire is an enthusiastic figure skating player.  She has passed free skate 4 from USFSA.
